Police Make Arrest In String Of Stanton Heights Pizza Delivery Driver Robberies

STANTON HEIGHTS (KDKA)- Pittsburgh Police have arrested a man in connection with a string of pizza delivery driver robberies in Stanton Heights.

The robberies took place between Jan. 16-21 along Brintell Street in Stanton Heights.

In the first robbery, a driver was approached by three men. They stole $80, the food and the driver's iPhone.

In the second robbery, a driver was approached by two or three men. He was punched in the head and face and knocked to the ground. The suspects stole the food and the driver's iPhone.

Three days later, a third driver was robbed while delivering to 910 Brintell Street. Two men approached the driver on the porch, one of them had a gun. They stole $150 from driver.

Police were able to identify a suspect in the robberies, 20-year-old Taraun Galloway.

Police said a witness spotted Galloway and the others involved in the last robbery. The combination of fresh footprints in the snow and a police K-9 led authorities to a home on Mossfield Street nearby.

Investigators said Galloway has previously lived there and that his family still does.

Using Facebook, police were able to see Galloway holding a gray iPhone similar to the one that was stolen from the second delivery driver who was robbed.

Galloway claims he bought the phone from a man on the street for $250 and had to get help to unlock the phone. Galloway denied being involved in the robberies and denied ever selling anything at a pawn shop.

Police say they had records of him selling an iPhone at a local pawn shop. At that point, Galloway claimed it was an old phone and he did in fact sell it.

Officers were able to charge the iPhone Galloway had on him and confirmed it was the phone stolen during the second pizza delivery driver robbery.

Galloway was charged with three counts of robbery and three counts of conspiracy with the threat to cause immediate serious injury.

He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
