Sex Offender Charged With Trying To Arrange Sex With 14-Year-Old

HARRISBURG (KDKA) - A registered sex offender has been charged with trying to set up sex with someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl.

27-year-old Frank Michael Piccolo, of Scott Township, was arrested Tuesday following an investigation that utilized an undercover agent.

According to a criminal complaint, investigators received information that Piccolo was using social media to talk to several underage girls. An investigator posing as a 14-year-old girl made contact with Piccolo using Facebook and Kik Messenger. After Piccolo exchanged sexual messages with the agent posing as a teen, investigators also found out that he had conversations with underage girls in 2015.

Previously, he was convicted of indecent assault of a minor and also failure to register under Megan's Law, according to the criminal complaint.

Piccolo is behind bars at the Lackawanna County Prison. His bail was set at $40,000.

He faces charges of unlawful contact with a minor, criminal use of a communication facility and criminal solicitation of statutory sexual assault.
