Beaver Co. Standoff Suspect Shot & Killed By Police

OHIOVILLE (KDKA) -A standoff suspect in Beaver County is dead after firing shots at police and making various threats throughout Thursday evening.

According to the district attorney, the incident initially began as a domestic dispute on Wildwood Road in Ohioville.

A woman was able to safely lock herself in a car to get away from her husband, 37-year-old Ryan Shorak. The man began beating the car, but eventually went back inside the home as officers arrived around 9:30 p.m.

Around 11:15 p.m., Shorak announced that he was going to count to 30 and open fire on police. When shots rang out, officers returned gunfire. However, it was initially unclear if Shorak was struck.

Shorak made various other threats throughout the evening during communications with police. They learned eventually that he had at least 10 firearms inside with him.

However, the district attorney said Shorak was shot and killed by the State Police SERT team at 6:50 a.m., which ended the 10-hour standoff.

No officers were injured, but one patrol car was hit. Neighbors said they were terrified by standoff.

"It's terrible, just thinking it's that close. It [the gunshots] was there, and now it's up there, I don't like this," said Alice Richard.

Students who live on Wildwood Road were asked to stay inside and home from school today. The absence will be excused.
