Get Marty: Girl Scout Troop Donates Blankets, Cookies To NICU Families

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- When a local Brownie troop made a recent trip to Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh they had a big thank you for Get Marty.

"Thank you Marty," says 7-year-old Brianna Lattner.

Brianna sent Get Marty an email in February asking for help.

She and the rest of the members of her Brownie troop wanted to make blankets for the babies in the neonatal intensive care unit at the hospital.

The girls also wanted to stuff the blankets with Girl Scout cookies.

The great folks at the McGuire Memorial Foundation donated $1,000 for the cost of the blanket materials and the cookies.

"It was just the right thing to do," says Dennis Sabatini with McGuire.

The girls spent a full day putting the blankets together at police headquarters.

"The police are great people. They really help out in the community," says Heather Lattner, Brianna's mom.

The group recently delivered 77 handmade blankets stuffed with cookies to the NICU at Magee.

"I can't believe how generous and kind these young girls are," says nurse Sandy Guess of Magee.
