Fire Guts Home In Lawrenceville, Officials Investigating Cause
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Investigators are trying to determine what sparked a fire Wednesday morning that destroyed a house in Lawrenceville.
No one was hurt, but the house was gutted by the flames.
It was around 10 a.m. when someone saw smoke pouring out of the windows of the house on Kent Way.
Neighbors say the family that lived in the two-and-a-half-story frame house was not home when the fire broke out. Right away, firefighters had some concerns.
"Because of the proximity of the houses, we requested a second alarm," said Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire Battalion Chief Dan Herr. "Turns out, the fire was extinguished pretty quickly."
"My dogs were barking when I looked out, I saw flames and some smoke out here," said Kayla Mahoney, who lives next door to the house.

Thankfully, no one was hurt and no other houses were damaged. But arson investigators were called to the scene.
KDKA's Brenda Waters: "Your house is so close, was it scary for you?"
Mahoney: "Honestly, it wasn't at any point hugely dangerous to us being right here because there was a little space in between, but they got it out so quickly we really didn't have time to be nervous."
