Man Critically Injured After Being Shot Multiple Times On North Side

NORTH SIDE (KDKA) – Emergency crews were called to the scene of a shooting on the North Side Thursday morning.

According to officials, the shooting happened in the 1300 block of Federal Street around 10 a.m.

"A male, believed to be in his 30s, was standing on the corner of Federal and Hemlock Streets when he was shot multiple times," Pittsburgh Public Safety Spokeswoman Emily Schaffer said.

Betty Saunders was sitting in her vehicle outside the Allegheny Health Network Medical and Professional Center.

"I heard five loud shots and then I turned around and I saw the young man fall right there. I did not see who was shooting at him," Saunders said. "Absolutely frightening. You read about it, you hear about it, you see it on the news, but you never actually think you are going to witness it...I  saw him fall and it broke my heart."

The man was transported to Allegheny General Hospital, where he was last listed in critical condition.

At least two suspects were in a dark colored Chevrolet Trailblazer and the shots were fired from the passenger's seat.

Anyone with information should call 412-323-7161.
