Woman Accused Of Setting Fire To Neighbor's Mobile Home In Scrap Metal Feud

CONCORD TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – An argument over scrap metal led to a woman allegedly lighting her neighbor's mobile home on fire in Butler County.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fleming's Trailer Park in Concord Township.

The suspect, Naomi Best, 44, told police she set fire to her neighbor's mobile home because he accused her of stealing his scrap metal.

But Beth McGarrah, the owner of the trailer park, says there's video of Best alleged stealing.

"He actually put up video cameras on his porch. She broke into his shed," said McGarrah.

The man's porch was set on fire, where it was contained due to the quick actions of McGarrah. She saw the fire and put it out with a bucket of rain water.

"When I pulled up to the trailer… I noticed it was his porch that was on fire, and I stopped and I got out and I looked and I saw her sitting on her porch right next door, sitting there smoking a cigarette watching it burn," said McGarrah. "That's when I asked her, well, I wasn't asking, I was yelling at her, 'Do you not see his trailer burning?' And she said, 'I don't know.' All she kept saying was 'I don't know.'"

The owner of the trailer, Joseph Mitchell, wasn't home when the fire started. His three children were not there at the time either.

Best is currently being held in the Butler County Prison.

She is facing a list of charges including, arson and reckless endangerment.
