Former Gymnastics Coach Accused Of Molesting Student Facing New Charges

GIBSONIA (KDKA) -- New charges have been filed against a former gymnastics coach accused of molesting one of his teenage students.

Keith Callen is now charged with the sexual assault of two girls as young as 5 years old. The new charges were filed when he appeared in court Wednesday afternoon in Gibsonia. They stem from accusations made by two sisters who are now in their 20s. They say Callen and their stepfather both sexually abused them back in 2001.

Callen wasn't talking as he headed to court on charges he sexually assaulted a teenage gymnast over a 2-year period at three different gyms. Then came the bombshell.

Police filed new charges against Callen, claiming that 15 years ago, he sexually assaulted a girl who was 5 or 6 years old.

The alleged victim, now in her 20s, claims Callen told her to "pull up her dress," and that he would "take pictures" of her body and "touched her" vagina.

Her sister told police that when she was 6 or 7 years old, Callen instructed her to "not wear underwear." She remembers "photographs being taken." The girls' stepfather was arrested and convicted in 2001 of sexually assaulting the young victims. The stepfather introduced the girls to Callen. Callen's attorney was caught by surprise when the new charges were filed.

"There's nothing to be said," defense attorney Jack Haller said. "It is what it is."

Callen was released Wednesday after posting 10 percent of a $5,000 bond.

As for the gymnast who accused Callen of sexually assaulting her, she's expected to testify during another hearing on July 20.
