Fan Guidelines Announced For Guns N' Roses Show At Heinz Field

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Guns N' Roses' "Not In This Lifetime Tour" will rock Heinz Field Tuesday night.

If you're going to the show, there are some things to keep in mind.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. with Wolfmother taking the stage.

On Monday, crews were working to set up the stage and get everything ready for the fans and the band.

"It takes them 12 hours a day, three shifts," said Dale Skjerseth, the tour's production manager. "They do it for three days, load this all in, all the black steel that you see, the stage, all the decking, all the flooring is in."

Everything being set up at Heinz Field is one of three identical traveling stages for the Guns 'N Roses tour. And from a construction-friendly standpoint, Heinz Field gets high marks.

"They make it probably the most easiest out of everybody," says Skjerseth. "They've got a big door on the back. You drive in, line your trucks up, unload. It saves us about two, three hours of load in."

The actual design of the stage was crafted back in January and February to the careful specifications of the band members' specific needs.

"They look at everything," says Skjerseth. "The drummer has to have a certain area, the keyboard players have to have theirs, the guys in the front have to have their area. Make it all work to make sure they're comfortable, and we want to make sure it's the same everywhere they go."

Other than that, the staging is designed for you to get the best view.

"They are here to see the band, so our priority is to give them large video screens, left and right. Large screen in the center, and a large opening for them to move around," Skjerseth says.

Sound check will be held Tuesday morning, and then later that day, 45,000 fans are expected to pack the stadium.

According to a press release, the parking lots around Heinz Field will open at 3:30 p.m. and fans must have a ticket to the show. Fans must also enter the stadium by 7 p.m. and leave no later than one hour after it ends.

In addition, fans must adhere to the new parking lot code of conduct, which includes the following:

  • Upon entering, fans will receive trash and recycling bags.
  • Trash must be disposed of properly.
  • The following are prohibited: solicitation of any kind, the sale of food and alcohol, glass containers, tents, personal port-a-johns, furniture (other than folding lawn chairs and tables), and oversized vehicles.

The NFL's bag policy will also be in effect. For more information on the bag policy, click here.

Traffic leaving the show could be an issue for some fans. Due to construction, the Fort Duquesne Bridge onramp from the North Shore will be closed.

Fans are being asked to use alternate routes including, Route 28, the West End Bridge or Route 65 after the show.
