Suspects Sought After 2 Men Shot During North Side Home Invasion

NORTH SIDE (KDKA) – Two men were shot during a home invasion on the North Side early Wednesday morning.

According to police, the incident happened inside an apartment in the Allegheny Commons on East Ohio Street.

Shortly after midnight, three African-American males broke into an apartment. At least six people were inside at the time, including a 2-year-old child.

A fight broke out and a 24-year-old male was pistol-whipped by the suspects. The altercation escalated and shots were fired, striking two men.

"At some point they ordered the two women that were in the apartment to the ground. At some other point, they started firing and two of the other individuals were struck," said Emily Schaffer, assistant public information officer for the Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety.

When police arrived, they found a 32-year-old man suffering from two gunshot wounds. While at the scene, a 28-year-old man walked into Allegheny General Hospital with a gunshot wound.

"The individual who was pistol-whipped was treated and released from the hospital and the other two who were shot, one was in critical, but stable and the other was stable as well," Schaffer said.

Police believe the 2-year-old child was punched in the face as well.

"The 2-year-old was injured, but he was not taken to the hospital. But, he did sustain a black eye."

No arrests have been made at this time.

It's not known if police recovered any weapons, or if all of the people inside the home lived there.

Police are interviewing witnesses and people who were inside the home at the time of the invasion.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Violent Crime Unit at (412)-323-7161.
