Pennsylvania Pair Accused Of Starving Dogs To Death

GREENE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A man and woman from Greene Township are accused of starving three German shepherds in a basement filled with feces.

According to York Daily Record, 34-year-old Shauna Rae Stroup and 42-year-old Jorge Elias Derieux are facing animal cruelty charges.

Authorities found four dogs -- Bear, Beard, Deffenburg and Rosie -- in a filthy basement where food and water were not available. Two of the dogs were already dead when troopers arrived.

One of the dogs was alive, but in such a poor condition that he had to be euthanized.

Bear, the only dog in decent enough condition to treat, weighed a measly 35 pounds. Police say that is around half the normal body weight for a dog of his breed.

Neither Stroup or Derieux have been in police custody.
