MOUNT LEBANON (KDKA) — Parents were contacted Friday after a child reported an attempted luring during recess in Mount Lebanon.

According to a release sent by Markham Elementary Principal Robert S. Freil, around 10:30 a.m. a student told a staff member that he was approached by a male on the school ball field during recess.

The person asked the child to come with him, prompting the student to run away and find a staff member. The Mt. Lebanon police were immediately contacted.

“The police responded immediately and conducted a neighborhood canvass as part of their investigation to gather more information. No person was found in the area matching the description. I have asked the MLPD to increase their presence around the school this afternoon,” Freil wrote.

Students were kept inside for the rest of the day as a precaution.
