Man Shot After Running Over Security Guard In Fineview

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A man was shot after running over a security guard on Saturday.

It happened at a housing complex in the area of Sandusky Court in Fineview.

Police say two security guards noticed a male drive onto the property and park behind a building. They recognized him as someone who shouldn’t be on the property, later identified as 31-year-old Raphael David Caruso.

After being confronted, the driver struck one of the guards with his vehicle, prompting the other guard to open fire.

Caruso was struck and taken to Allegheny General Hospital in stable condition.

The injured security guard is also expected to recover.

Caruso is being held in the Allegheny County Jail and is facing attempted criminal homicide and aggravated assault charges.

First, both security officers should be praised. They did what they were paid to do. (Protect the property.) Then when this dirtbag hit one of them with the vehicle..and didn’t STOP, lethal force is authorized. Why? 1.The officer has already been struck, (so a felony has been committed.) The other officer has know way of knowing the severity of that officer’s injuries. The perp isn’t stopping, so deadly use of force is legal in this case. (To stop a fleeing felon WITH undetermined bodily injury to another human being. (Officer or not-doesn’t make a difference in this case.) Well done! You did your job, without worrying about the consequences after the fact.
Don’t know you, but you’ve earned MY respect. IF I knew you..I’d buy you a beer! (And some range time…got to improve that “sight alignment & trigger control” a bit.)
