Car Slams Into Pole In Sheraden, Shots Fired

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- First they heard gunshots, seconds later a loud crash knocked out the electricity at several homes in the 3100 block of Bergman Street in Sheraden Friday.

Neighbors came outside and saw an abandoned car that had crashed into a utility pole.

"I heard like a rapid fire, 'bam, bam, bam, bam.' Then, I heard the bang, I thought somebody hit something," said Clarence Trent.

"The electricity going out scared me; we never had anything like this happen on the street," said Carol Grayber.

Police are sorting out the details, but a back window was shot out in the Cadillac.

It's believed that someone on the street was shooting at the Cadillac while the driver was trying to get away. After the crash, everyone, including the driver, escaped on foot.

"When I seen the guy running down the street, I looked over there was a guy. Running through the alleyway and two people running through the other alleyway behind a couple houses, so I'm not sure who was in what," said Raymond Kimble.

The motive is unclear, but police may have found a quantity of heroin inside the car. A police canine was brought the scene to search for a trail. Some believe drugs are the cause of the dispute.
