Victims Identified In Apparent Apollo Murder-Suicide

APOLLO (KDKA) — Two people were found dead in a home in Armstrong County following a shooting Thursday.

There was quiet emptiness at the home Friday afternoon, far different from the urgency that surrounded the house Thursday night when police roped off the street and combed through the home where two bodies were found.

"They were cousins. The mother of the murder victim, is the one who found them. The cousin who had shot him and ultimately shot himself, was found upstairs," said Armstrong County District Attorney Scott Andreassi.

Joseph Gabriella was just 20-years-old. His mother found him lying on the first floor. Investigators say he was shot and killed by his cousin, 37-year-old Michael Hennigan. Hennigan then went upstairs and turned the gun on himself.

"I was shocked. I mean for Apollo, I didn't really believe it," said neighbor Daniel Rupert.

"Its tragic. They're good people. Very nice. Kind. Anytime I've spoken to them, they've spoken. Asked how the kids are. That's just basic stuff around here," said Rose Burkett.

No one has an explanation for a tragedy like this.
