ACC Fines Pitt's Narduzzi, Florida State's Fisher For Violating Sportsmanship Policy
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Atlantic Coast Conference has issued public reprimands of Florida State head football coach Jimbo Fisher and Pitt head football coach Pat Narduzzi.
According to their website, the ACC is reprimanding the coaches for violating the ACC Sportsmanship Policy following Florida State's game against Clemson on Oct. 29, and Pitt's game against Virginia Tech on Oct. 27.
Fisher and Narduzzi's postgame comments regarding officials were in direct violation of the ACC Sportsmanship Policy that states: "Public criticism of officials or public comments evaluating the officiating of particular contests is not in the best interest of intercollegiate athletics. Individuals associated with the athletics program are prohibited, therefore, from commenting while acting in an official capacity on officiating other than directly to the Conference office."
Reports indicate Narduzzi took issue with possible pass interference calls in his team's 39-36 loss to Virginia Tech. Fisher reportedly argued against an illegal block call in a loss to Clemson.
Institutional fines have been announced as a result of the violations. Narduzzi has been fined $5,000 and Fisher has been fined $20,000.
