Pittsburgh Steelers Injury Report: Four Steelers Players Out For Thanksgiving Night, Colts Without Andrew Luck

By Danny Cox

The Pittsburgh Steelers still have an excellent chance of making a playoff push and winning the AFC North divisional title. Injuries are starting to lessen and those still on the injury report are those who the Steelers have learned to play without for weeks now. Still, remaining healthy must be a top priority if they hope to string together a series of wins.

In a short week, the Steelers have been hard at work preparing for their Thanksgiving day match-up against the Indianapolis Colts. The team will be without four players. Yes, four are listed out, but none of the listed injuries consist of any new players. While the team is still without big name players, they are actually getting healthier and the number of injured players is diminishing.

Wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey missed last week's game against the Cleveland Browns due to a foot injury that kept him out of practice this week. He has officially been ruled out.

Pittsburgh will once again depend on Le'Veon Bell in the rushing game, as running back DeAngelo Williams continues to be sidelined with a lingering knee injury. Also, tight end Xavier Grimble (quadricep) was ruled out for week 12.

Wide receiver Sammie Coates has been nagged by injuries for a few weeks now, but the special teams ace was full-go at practice this week. Safety Jordan Dangerfield was also back on the field for practice, but only in a limited capacity, as he has been battling a groin injury. Dangerfield will likely be a game time decision.

Colts will try and pick up a key AFC win without Andrew Luck at quarterback

Starting quarterback Andrew Luck was officially ruled out on Wednesday due to a concussion. He remains in the league's concussion protocol. Scott Tolzien will start in his place against the Steelers. The Colts also signed quarterback Stephen Morris to the 53-man active roster, so he can play back-up to Tolzien on Thanksgiving night.

The Indianapolis Colts are hurting in the injury department, as safety Clayton Geathers is also listed as out due to a concussion. Unfortunately for the Colts, the short week did not allow him enough time to go through the full concussion protocol either, which will prevent him from playing.

Cornerback Vontae Davis (ankle) was limited in practice on Wednesday and has been listed as Questionable. The Colts are hopeful that he will be able to play, especially with Geathers out.

On Wednesday, wide receiver Donte Moncrief was added to the injury report with a hamstring injury. He was limited in practice and is listed as Questionable as well.

Questionable:

  • (S) Jordan Dangerfierld (Groin) - Limited Participation In Practice

Out:

  • (RB) DeAngelo Williams (Knee) - Did Not Participate In Practice
  • (S) Shamarko Thomas (Groin) - Did Not Participate In Practice
  • (WR) Darrius Heyward-Bey (Foot) - Did Not Participate In Practice
  • (TE) Xavier Grimble (Quadricep) - Did Not Participate In Practice
