Snowfall Causes Slick Roads, Rush-Hour Fender-Benders

MCCANDLESS (KDKA) -- Towing companies all around Pittsburgh called in extra manpower Tuesday afternoon to deal with rush-hour fender-benders on slick, snow-covered roads.

KDKA's Kym Gable was at Mitchell's Towing in McCandless. Workers there were running out of space in the lot to offload the dented and damaged vehicles.

Several of those cars were from one pile-up on Gloria Street, off of Perry Highway.

"When it first came down, it was really bad," said owner Randy Mitchell. "I got stuck turning around on the road. [We had] a 6 car accident there. Steep hill, nothing but ice on it."

Tow truck driver Tony Cottom had a friendly suggestion for drivers: "They definitely need new tires! So when you're out there, make sure you're getting new tires, 'cause these roads are no joke!"
