17-Year-Old Jeannette Softball Player Dies From Heart Attack

JEANNETTE (KDKA) -- A Jeannette teen died this week after suffering a heart attack, according to a Facebook page dedicated to her "prayer warriors."

Scarlett Stein, 17, reportedly had a heart attack on Tuesday, prompting friends and family to reach out for prayer and support.

After undergoing surgery, Stein passed away Wednesday afternoon.

Stein had signed a letter of intent to play softball at Penn State New Kensington.

In May, Stein was featured in the Tribune-Review as a "Westmoreland Athlete of The Week," boasting a 3-4 record and 2.04 ERA.

She also mentioned that her favorite color was red, saying it is the "shade of her name." Stein said her favorite candy was blue Sour Patch kids.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help her family with medical bills.
