1 Dead After Vehicle Crashes Into Pole In Westmoreland County

EAST HUNTINGDON TWP. (KDKA) - Police in Westmoreland County say a vehicle crashed into a pole Friday night.

It happened along Route 981 near Joe Moores Road and Scottdale Smithton in East Huntingdon Township around 10:40 p.m.

According to the Westmoreland County coroner's office, 22-year-old Timothy J. Cross, Jr., of Bullskin Township, was driving south when he left the road and crashed into a utility pole.

The coroner's office says Cross's car rolled and came to a rest on its roof. Cross was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma.

State police believe speed and alcohol may have been factors, and they say Cross was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
