BIG BEAVER BORO (KDKA) — A teenager has died after being struck by a vehicle in Big Beaver on Monday afternoon.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. in the 7600 block of Big Beaver Boulevard at the intersection with Old Wampum Road.

According to state police, the bicyclist was trying to cross State Route 18 when he was hit. He has been identified as Jordan Bobin, 17, of Wampum.

Beaver County emergency dispatchers said Bobin was hit by a red SUV and transported to Ellwood City Hospital. He was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The SUV had a smashed windshield following the accident.

Neighbors said Bobin was about to graduate from high school.

The driver of the SUV was not hurt.

State police continue to investigate.
