With Wisconsin finally officially naming Paul Chryst as their next head football coach, there is now word that the University of Pittsburgh has removed Steve Pederson as their athletic director.
Fox Sports College Football Expert Bruce Feldman joined the Starkey and Mueller Show to talk about Pitt’s search for their next head coach and said the firing of Athletic Director Steve Pederson will go a long way in bringing in a good coach.
Some sweeping changes took place within the University of Pittsburgh’s athletic department on Wednesday.
Earl Brown scored 16 points, Ben Millaud-Meunier added 14 as St. Francis (Pa.) walloped Duquesne on the glass en route to a 67-52 win Wednesday night.
Julius Brown had 27 points, including seven 3-pointers, to lead Toledo to an 83-57 win over Robert Morris on Wednesday night.
Jamel Artis scored a career-high 20 points and Pittsburgh eased past Manhattan 65-56 on Wednesday night for its third straight victory.
With Paul Chryst possibly being named the next head coach at Wisconsin, the rumors have already begun swirling as to who Pitt will hire to replace him.
You can add another achievement to the mantle of Pitt running back James Conner as he was named to the 26-player American Football Coaches Association All-American Team.
Paul Chryst is reportedly flying to Wisconsin today, which may signify a move to become the next head coach of the Badgers.
WTMJ Reporter Doug Russell tells the Cook and Poni Show that Chryst meets all the criteria that Wisconsin is looking for and he is above a 50/50 chance to get the job.
Later this week the Heisman Trophy will add one new member to the most exclusive fraternity in sports. It is widely expected that Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota will hear his name announced as the 2014 Heisman Trophy winner, which would make him the first player in program history to win the highest individual honor in college football.
