Covered in cardboard and wrapped in plastic are two million Christmas lights shipped here straight from China. The cost to county taxpayers is somewhere around $130,000 to $150,000 with a good chance they’ll never be used.
With no corporate sponsors and the costs of county employees replacing all of the lights every year along with overtime and security – $1.5 million – more than $1 million this year. The price is too high for taxpayers.
