After several days of public pressure, local officials say they will attempt to rescue an alligator that found its way into the Beaver Run Reservoir.
Cute? Cuddly? Maybe to some, but a baby gator may grow a foot a year, reaching 4 to 7 feet long, 270 to 800 pounds and can live 50 years in captivity.
A five-foot alligator has been seen on the banks of the Beaver Run Reservoir. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission tells KDKA that someone could be fined for dumping off an exotic pet such as the gator.
The water conservation order for 35,000 Municipal Water Authority of Westmoreland County customers has been lifted.
