The KDKA-TV Turkey Fund was near and dear to the heart of our late friend and colleague, Yvonne Zanos.
For more than three decades, you have helped your neighbors in need and today, KDKA is launching the holiday tradition for another year.
The final push for funds for this year’s KD Turkey Fund is in full swing. On Tuesday, KDKA-TV’s Rick Dayton went to an honor’s English class at Hampton High School, where the kids were in a giving mood.
The deadline for donations to the KD Turkey Fund is fast approaching and the kids at Wexford Elementary School raised some big money this year to help families in need.
Nora and Tess Conaway are taking over a labor of love for their grandma. They call her “LaLa” – she was Yvonne to us – and her life was a song that touched so many other lives.
In 2010, a total of $566,000 was raised for the KDKA Turkey Fund. It was enough to feed 38,000 families thanks to the efforts of the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank.
