A young man in our area is only the sixth person in the Western Hemisphere to be a part of a trial aimed at helping people who become paralyzed from injuries.
During the filming of “The Dark Knight Rises” in Pittsburgh last year, a call went out for military veterans and martial arts specialists. They were needed to play the roles of villain Bane’s elite corps of mercenaries.
“Supah Ninjas” is not looking for people to act. They want people who can dance, tumble and kick! The coming season will be taped in Pittsburgh.
Mixed martial arts incorporates a multitude of hand-to-hand combat styles including boxing, kick-boxing, muay Thai, Greco-Roman wrestling, judo, tae kwon do, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Sambo and even elements of sumo wrestling. The vast majority of the fighters at gyms that provide this training, however, are not trying to become then next Randy Couture and most will never fight professionally. Instead, it’s the discipline, strength, endurance, agility and sense of accomplishment that brings them back to gyms like these, Pittsburgh’s best five, time and again.
