Jeff Malcolm stopped 36 shots and Yale won its first NCAA hockey championship with a 4-0 victory over top-seeded Quinnipiac on Saturday night.
Quinnipiac jumped to an early lead and cruised past St. Cloud State 4-1 on Thursday in the NCAA hockey semifinals.
With one shot against North Dakota, Mount Lebanon’s own Jesse Root found the net in what proved to be the game winner sending his team at Yale to the Frozen Four.
The Frozen Four will be held at CONSOL Energy Center to determine the 2013 Division I Men’s National Hockey champion.
