Golf is a great game for networking; but if you're just getting started, it can be daunting. Beginners, take heart, though; these local courses should be just your speed.

Lindenwood Golf Club

Though it's a great course for seasoned golfers as well, if you're just learning the game, Lindenwood Golf Club in Canonsburg is one of the best courses around for beginners. Lindenwood is a 27-hole course – so players have three courses from which to choose. If you're still new to golf, the 1650-yard Executive Course is the one you want to try, though. With par either 31 or 35, depending on the golfer's skill level, Lindenwood says this course is its "scaled down version of a regulation course." Even if your game isn't quite up to par, you're sure to enjoy the outdoors "with two ponds and plenty of broadleaf and evergreen trees scattered throughout!"

Rittswood Golf Club

239 Sheldon Road
Valencia PA 16059
724-586-2721

Valencia's Rittswood Golf Club is a very forgiving course – which is always good for beginners! The 18-hole course, which was designed by Harrison & Garbin, features a wide open layout and isn't usually very crowded – so beginners need not feel rushed.

Mt. Lebanon Township Golf

Open year-round (weather permitting, of course), Mt. Lebanon's 9-hole golf course is another great place for players who are just taking up the game. The greens are exceptional and you can't beat the price! This course got its start as the Castle Shannon Golf Club more than a century ago when players had to avoid such hazards as cows and horses. Since then, though, this local course has become one of the more popular 9-hole courses around!

Krendale Golf Course

131 N Eberhart Rd
Butler, PA 16001
724-482-4065

When you're just learning the game of golf, it's best to start with a 9-hole course (least you get too frustrated to continue!) Krendale Golf Course in Butler offers not one, but three 9-hole courses. Its wide open layout, reasonable prices and beautiful scenery makes this one of our favorites for beginners!

Strawberry Ridge Golf Course

135 McNulty Lane
Harmony, PA 16037
724-452-4022

Despite its "challenging flat fairways," Strawberry Ridge Golf Course in Lancaster Township, Butler County boasts that its "large inviting greens" are "designed to accommodate all skill levels of play." Aside from that, this 18-hole, 6000-plus yard par 70 course is just a really nice course for golfers of all levels!
