How about El Paso in Heidelburg or Old Mexico in Washington…

  • Debbie

I hateto reveal my little secret, but It would be right to keep it all to myself. The best Mexican Restaurant in all of Pittsburgh is El Patrons in Greensburg. Authentic all the way. I come from So. Cal. and I know Mexican. I have eaten at all of the Mexican Restaurants in all of Pittsburgh and this one is the winner. Great food, great staff of real mexican waiters, real chile rellano not what you get in other restaurants. I guarantee, you will go back once you ty it. OK….You’re welcome.

    • Tom

I agree 100%. I have been to El Patron’s and I love it. The best I have ever eaten. I love the huge burrito called the Cancun. Can’t get enough of it. I just have the waiter bring a side of Pico De Gallo. Wow. I’m going there tonight for dinner.

    • whatgoesaround

i totally agree. Have not been to the one in Greensburg, but the one in Wexford is equally as awesome I’m sure. Best Mexican I’ve ever had!!

  • lek

Patrons in Wexford beats them ALL!

  • muriel395

I love Mexican food! I might have to try some of these places. Thanks for the info!

Ummmm Las Velas has been closed for at least 6 months due to a fire. What the heck./

El Camp? You must be OUT OF YOUR MINDS!!! That place sucks, and the only thing that sucks worse is that there’s 4 of them! If you’ve not been to Mexico City downtown, then you shouldn’t be able to comment on this subject.

    • Jennifer Spinney

Mexico City downtown is OUTSTANDING!!!! Funny, went there on ST. Paddy’s Day and they guac is amazing!! Made fresh at the table in a pig!!!!

      • James

mexico city has good food ( I work right across the street) but El campesino is way better. The first time I had El campesino, I though it was horible. I refused to go back for several years, however my wife and i went this past October and something must have changed (possibly ownership) because the food was totally different. We used to frequent Mexico City and El Paso often, as those 2 were out favorites, however El Campesino won us over.

  • chibber

I’ve been to Mexico city and several other cities in Mexico and El Campesino is authentic and the best in Pittsburgh. Old Mexico in Wash, PA is 2nd.

  • daniel kramer

    Chibber is clearly an idiot

    • james

Dan, have you ever been to Old Mexico in Washington? I have and I order the same thing almost every time… Burrito, chille rellano, rice and beans, an enchilada and sometimes I order and extra taco. When I go to MExicao city I usually get the black and gold burrito. Sometimes I change it up a bit. My point is, I’ve been to both, and I can assure you that Old Mexico is better than Mexico City. And to go even further Im willing to now say that El Campesino is better than both Old MExico and Mexico City.

  • mayngrl

Rey Azteca is the real deal….Lower Burrell and Butler locations, too

    • Green

That place is garbage. Take a trip to New Castle and try El Canelo. That’s real mexican.

      • El Canelo

El Canelo is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant of all time. I went to college nearby, and it is the place I miss the most!!! The chicken chimis are to die for, salsa and chips always great. Yummm.

  • Barb

Recently opened, La Hacienda in Century III mall has the best authentic Mexican food in Pittsburgh, It is family owned and operated. The food is terrific and the staff are friendly. Once you try La Hacienda you won’t go anywhere else.

  • Natalia

The Round Corner Cantina in Lawrenceville has great authentic Mexican food and the BEST margaritas!

  • J B

El Campesino is not very good and many times I don’t think you get exactly what was said on the menu. Another place not that good is the place in McIntryre Square, it used to be Don Pablo’s. I can’t remember the name of it, but not good the 2 times I went.

  • Teenie

Los Chiludoes in South Point Caninburg is the absolute best. We vacation in Mexico at least once a year and this is as close as you can get. And BTW I do not think Hungry Hose’s even has mexican food anymore. Why would it be on this out dated llist?

  • Vinnie

Los Chiludoes in Southpointe (Cecil Twp) hands down is the best the Mexican Food I have eaten around the Pittsburgh Area.

  • Terri G

I have yet to find an “authentic” mexican restaurant in Pittsburgh, so i guess I will have to drive to Greensburg. Any hispanic restaurant that does not know what White Sauce is will not get my business. I lived in Virginia for 11 years and know authentic Mexican food. Mad Mex here in Pittsburgh was the worst.
