There are many bars in the city that provide a good atmosphere and cheap drink prices. However, do you meet anyone other than your friends? These are the bars that provide an atmosphere where you are able to mingle and could meet that special someone.

Kelly's is one of those hidden gems in Pittsburgh. Located in East Liberty, the exterior looks like an old 40's lounge with neon lights and a sign hanging with a martini glass on it. Inside you find a long bar and interior booth the color of dark red. Weekly specials bring patrons in to sample a wide selection of mixed drinks. The back porch opens for singles to hangout on those cool summer nights. A retro look and laid-back environment, the lounge provides one of the best mixers for those "non-professional" types.

Located in Lawrenceville, Church Brew Works is one of the largest restaurants/bars in the city. Housed in an old church, the bar stretches from the hallway all the way to the former altar. It has one of the largest happy hour crowds in the city, featuring their home local brews at a discounted price. During Friday and Saturday night, the parking spots are at a premium as the bar is full of singles hanging out and enjoying the start of a weekend.

Work downtown? Not ready to sit in traffic for an hour before going home? Tonic Bar & Grill is located right across from the Westin in the heart of the city. Mostly known for their lunch, their happy hour is one of the best attended in downtown. From out of town business types to those just not ready to make the drive home yet, Tonic offers professionals a quaint and pleasant experience to meet and speak with other like-minded individuals. While not on the Southside or Shadyside, it is one of the more happening bars for professionals downtown.

Six Penn Kitchen

146 6th Street
Pittsburgh, PA 15222
(412) 566-7366
Hours: Mon to Thu – 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Fri – 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., Sat - 4:30 p.m. to 12 a.m., Sun - 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Reviews, Directions & More Info

On the opposite end of Tonic downtown is Six Penn Kitchen right across from the Benedum Center. While a bar runs across half of the restaurant, the best asset of Six Penn Kitchen is the rooftop bar. One of the few rooftop lounges in the city, it attracts professionals from Pittsburgh Pirates fans to Theater goers. The view alone is worth the price of a single drink. But to take it in after a show or game is even better. Singles interact and enjoy the cool atmosphere, which reflects more of a lounge environment with seating and tables than a bar. Many come before and after plays in the cultural district, while spending time in the bar or upstairs.

While I am not usually a fan of the Southside, Jack's Bar is one of the few places that you can meet a wide range of singles. From your typical Yinzers to the college crowd, Jack's provides a mixed variety that can be found only in few bars across the city. Offering cheap drink prices 365 days a year (never taking a day off) the establishment is a massive stopping point for anyone walking Carson Street.
