I’m sorry to say that I was really unimpressed with Dozen when I tried them. I have bought cinnamon rolls and cupcakes from them, and neither were anything special. The cupcakes were also dry, like they’d been left over for a few days or frozen and thawed-out a few times–just dry. I went to the Squirrel Hill location for these items, but I wasn’t impressed enough–especially considering how pricey they are–to try another one of their locations.

There’s a cupcake shop on Ellsworth in Shadyside too whose name I’m not remembering. They might be worth trying.

I’ve also been unimpressed with Dozen — both by the quality of their cupcakes (which are dry with overly sweet icing) and their customer service. I waited almost an hour to pick up my order because they forgot about it. The manager took my address and promised to send me coupons in the mail to make up for the time I wasted, and they never came! Talk about insult to injury.

I love Oakmont Bakery. Their attitude cupcakes are so cute and really tasty. I also like Dudt’s but Oakmont is truely the best in my book.

Mimi’s Bake shop in Cranberry did the cupcakes for my wedding and they were amazing! They set the bar so high, I don’t even want to try other places. I used to not care for cupcakes, but now I crave them. But only theirs!

Dozen is good for their general treats and savory items, but their cupcakes aren’t the best. Vanilla cupcakes are THE BEST. The place on Ellsworth, Coco, might be closed. Either way, they weren’t that great either.

I recently went to Café Chocolade and they had the best cupcake I have ever had. Try them out they are truly the best. 7061 Steubenville Pike, Oakdale

Must agree that Dozen’s cupcakes are dry and bland. Makes me wonder if we can trust any of the “best of” listings on this website. Then again, taste is subjective!
