2 Daycare Centers Closed After Near Drowning To Reopen

WASHINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) -- Two of three daycare centers shut down by the Department of Public Welfare are now reopening, according to an attorney.

Kid Biz LLC, which operates four daycare centers in Washington County, was forced to close three of them after a 7-year-old boy nearly drowned at the Four Seasons Resort Campground in West Finley Township in June.

More than 300 families scrambled to make arrangements for childcare after the emergency closures last month.

Lane Turturice, an attorney for Kid Biz LLC, says the Happy Face Learning Center on Washington Road in Canonsburg and the Happy Face Learning Center on Jefferson Avenue in Washington, Pa., will both reopen during the appeals process.

Families should call those centers to make arrangements.

The third daycare center, Just Us Kids Child Care on East Maiden Street in Washington will remain closed. That's the location where the 7-year-old boy was enrolled.
