Bomb Squad Called To Beaver Co. Apartment Complex For Second Time

MONACA (KDKA) – The Bomb Squad was called to a Beaver County apartment complex after a suspicious device was found.

Officials were at the Spring Run apartment complex along Marshall Road in Monaca.

A suspicious device described as a pipe wrapped in duct tape with a fuse is being investigated.

It was discovered in a maintenance garage at the apartment complex.

The apartment complex is the same one that police and the Bomb Squad were called to Monday after a little girl found a pipe bomb in a grassy area.

No one was injured in Monday's incident and officials were able to diffuse the bomb.

Some residents were evacuated and others were told to stay in their homes.

Ernest Genes told KDKA's Kym Gable he rushed to the scene after his daughter called crying.

"She was scared," he said. "I was scared for her. For it to happen more than one time, it scares everyone."

"If someone's trying to be funny, it's not funny," Kara Harrington said. "It's very very dangerous."

Police also questioned people inside one of the apartments, but would not comment on what -- if anything -- they were looking for.
