Pittsburgh Weather: City Officials Prepare For Weekend Snowfall That Could Make Monday Commute Hazardous

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Officials in the City of Pittsburgh are preparing to keep roads safe Sunday evening and into Monday as snow is in the forecast.
A statement from the Department of Public Works released that the city is preparing for wet, sticky snow that could impact the Monday morning commute. KDKA Meteorologist Ray Petelin says that Pittsburgh is expecting to see 1-2 inches of snow, while some areas north of the I-80 corridor could see up to 4 inches.

City officials say that road crew workers will report for the Sunday overnight shift four hours early. Public works employees will take to the streets starting at 6 p.m. instead of 10 p.m.
To keep the cities streets clear will be 48 trucks spread throughout the city and working through the night and into Monday morning.

According to the City of Pittsburgh website, officials have declared Snow Level 1, which is the lowest snow level.
Residents can track snow plows in real time with the Snow Plow Tracker, which returned to service on Jan. 31.
