Ross Township Rape Suspect Remains At Large

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Ross Township Police have identified a suspect in two rapes that happened earlier this month.

They say 38-year-old Arthur Henderson often stayed with his girlfriend at the Cascades Apartments where one of the rapes occurred.

Angela Vespi lives at the Cascades and doesn't remember seeing Henderson, but she says her friend does.

Vespi also says she'll feel much better after Henderson is caught.

Police were out in force Wednesday night, searching for him. An arrest warrant was issued after an expedited DNA linked him "without a doubt" to the rape at the Cascades and to one at the Woodhawk Club Apartments, according to Ross Township Police Detective Brian Kohlhepp.

Henderson submitted to a mouth swab last week for a DNA sample, but police say they could not hold him at the time because they only had enough evidence for a search warrant to get the sample.

Henderson's attorney, Blaine Jones, issued a statement: "I have been in constant communication with law enforcement so that Mr. Henderson can turn himself in and address any and all allegations against him."

There is a $5,000 reward for information that leads to Henderson's arrest on federal charges, but the warrant is sealed so it is not known what those charges entail.
