Pittsburghers Bundle Up To Kick Off Holiday Season Downtown

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – All bundled and layered, thousands lined the streets of downtown Pittsburgh Saturday night.

They took in the annual holiday season kick off parade.

"It's freezing cold, but it's festive," said Fred Margo Frock of Greensburg. "It's got me in the Christmas spirit now. I think it's beautiful."

With temperatures below freezing, people's attempts to stay warm didn't always work.

Sean Baldis of Cranberry said he couldn't feel his face, he was so cold.

So, maybe some couldn't feel their face, but you could feel the holiday spirit, especially with the background music from area marching bands.

"It's way too cold for me, I'm from Texas, I got six layers on, I'm freezing out here," said one man downtown.

But, there was one guy who could stand the cold – Santa Claus.

"Oh yes, I'm warm," he said. "This is like a spring day on the North Pole, ho ho ho."
